Punjab: 2 dead, several injured in blast inside washroom in Ludhiana district court

Ludhiana: 

Two people have died and several others were injured in a blast in Ludhiana District court complex on Thursday. 

As per reports, the blast was reported to have occurred in a bathroom on the second floor of the court complex around 12:22 pm. Walls of the bathroom were demolished and glass of windows broken into pieces with the intensity of the blast.

Notably, lawyers of the court are on strike today due to which only few people were there in the court when the blast took place. 

Police have cordoned off the area and fire tenders personnel are at the spot. 

A large number of people congregated outside the Ludhiana court after a loud noise, due to the blast, was heard in the area. 

The cause of the blast is not known yet.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has left for Ludhiana, Talking to media, the Chief Minister said, “Some anti-national elements are doing such acts as Assembly elections are nearing. The government is on alert. Those found guilty will not be spared.”
