The Northeast monsoon is gradually establishing over the island, stated the Meteorology Department.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Northern, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambantota and Matale districts. Fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm can be expected at some places in these areas.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts during the evening or night. Fairly heavy rainfalls above 75 mm can be expected at some places in these areas.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
