The promising squash player Matheesha Wijesekara from Royal College Colombo excelled at the Junior Open Squash Championship when he clinched the boys under 15 champion title at this tournament which concluded at SSC squash courts on Friday.
Matheesha was also in fine form to finish third in under 17 category at this same tournament which was conducted by Sri Lanka squash Federation.
This is the second consecutive time Matheesha won the under 15 title in this same tournament as he was able to win the under 15 finals at the last junior Nationals. The 13-year-old talented squash player coached by Lal Wickramasinghe while S.Deen the experienced coach also gives fine guidance at the school. Thushara Wasantha always work hard as a physical fitness trainer giving good support to maintain his fitness. Matheesha also had previous international experience by representing Junior Asian Squash Championship held in Macau, China held in 2919 while he also got chance to take part at the 13th KL Junior Open Squash Championships in 2019 held in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.
Matheesha paid a tribute to the coaches as well as his parents who always encourage him to be successful in his career.
