Kota: 13 jailed for 20 years for raping minor for nine days, woman who sold girl gets 4 years rigorous imprisonment

In Rajasthan’s Kota, 13 people have been sentenced to 20 years in prison and two others to four years of jail for raping a 15-year-old girl multiple times in nine days early this year.

A POCSO court in Kota also sentenced a woman to four years rigorous imprisonment for abducting the minor girl from her home in Kota and taking her to Jhalawar, around 90 kilometers away, and selling her to several people for raping her.

Twelve others who were allegedly involved in the incident have been acquitted. 

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each to those jailed for 20 years and Rs 7,000 each to those sentenced to four years in prison.

Notably, the court’s judgement comes with nine months after the minor rape victim lodged a case in Kota. The investigation was carried out under Rajasthan Police Department’s Officer Scheme.

On March 6, the minor girl had lodged a complaint of rape against several people in Suket police station in Kota. She said she was lured away from home in Kota by a woman Bulbul alias Pooja Jain on the pretext of purchasing her a new bag.

After a detailed investigation, the cops had on May 4 submitted a 1,750-page charge sheet that gave minute description of the incidents of nine days and ordeal of the girl.

In a 17-page conviction, the POCSO court help the 13 accused guilty of rape under IPC Section 376 (3).
