Karnataka: Statue of St Antony damaged, St Joseph’s church vandalised in Chikkaballapur

St. Anthony’s statue at a church in Chikkaballapur district, around 65 kms from Bengaluru, was vandalised my unidentified attackers on Thursday, police said. The glass windows of the church were also broken by the miscreants. 

A first information report (FIR) has been registered by Chikkaballapur rural police station against unknown persons for vandalising St Anthony’s statue at the church. The complaint stated that a large stone was found inside the 150-year-old church where the statue was kept.

Police has initiated an investigation into the matter. 

It is worth mentioning that the incident of vandalism comes on the day when the Karnataka assembly is debating the anti-conversion bill. 

The anti-conversion bill has been tabled by Karnataka law minister JC Madhuswamy, who stated that the bill was first formulated in 206 when Congress government headed by CM Siddaramaiah. The law minister said that the same bill is now being tabled after being scrutinized.
