Dhaka:
Joint-champions of Asian Champions Trophy 2018, India and Pakistan have failed to qualify for the finals of this season and thus, they will be locking horns in the bronze medal match of the tournament.
India, despite maintaining a continuous winning streak in the entire tournament, could not deliver what was required in their semi-final against Japan who they had defeated two days back by 6-0.
On the other hand, Pakistan was edged out by Korea in an eleven goal thriller where Pakistan ended the game with five goals on their board, one less than the winning team.
India was on the top of the table before they entered in the semi-final game with three wins in their bag and one draw against, the now finalist, Korea.
Japan had put on a blistering show on Tuesday when they outplayed India taking them under pressure with every passing minute. Manpreet and the boys could not even take the lead in the entire game and just trailed behind their opponents who went on to defeat them by 5-3.
Two quarter for India went goalless as Japan defended with the techniques that is required on this stage of the tournament.
The arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, will now fight for the bronze medal in the tournament and one of them will have to go home empty handed.
