Fallen naval war veterans commemorated on 71st anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy

In parallel with the 71st anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy, a solemn ceremony to commemorate Navy war veterans who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the nation was held at Naval War Hero Monument in Welisara on December 9.
 
Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne this commemorative event was held in Welisara and it was presided by Senior Advisor (Health & Nutrition) Surgeon Rear Admiral GSR Jayawardena. During the ceremony floral tributes were made to the Naval War Hero Monument and two minute silence was observed, recalling naval war veterans who made the supreme sacrifice for freedom and territorial integrity of the motherland.
 
Deputy Area Commander, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, senior officers and sailors were present on this occasion.
