Earthquake of 4.3 magnitude strikes north-eastern coast of Sri Lanka

An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred at a depth of 10 Km yesterday evening in the Bay of Bengal 302 Km north east of Batticaloa, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) said.

A spokesman for the GSMB said there was no tsunami threat due to the earthquake which occurred at 6.46 pm.

According to India’s National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake with a magnitude 4.3, occurred at a depth: 21 Km , 515km North East of Colombo at 6.44 pm.
