Did Bengaluru doctor ever recover from Omicron? Tests COVID-19 positive again!

Bengaluru:

The Bengaluru doctor, who is among the first Omicron cases in India, had reportedly recovered but has again tested COVID-19 positive. The 46-year-old doctor was also among the first Omicron cases in Karnataka and had no travel history. 

“It is true that the doctor who was infected with with Omicron variant has once again tested positive for COVID-19,” a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike official said. 

A report by NDTV mentioned officials saying that the Bengaluru doctor has lung infection. It is worth mentioning that the doctor, had received both the doses of COVID-19 vaccines. He is now under isolation and is asymptomatic. 

The RTPCR test was conducted on the eighth day from his last test, as per the mandate issued by the Ministry of Health. The patient has to be on home quarantine for seven days and take the RTPCR test again on the eighth day.

The doctor is now under observation and will have to take COVID-19 test again after seven days. He will be discharged from the hospital only after a COVID negative report.

Test reports of close contacts of the Bengaluru doctor, who had tested positive, have now resulted negative and have been discharged from the hospital.

The doctor, a resident of Bommanahalli, has been working at a hospital on Bannerghatta Road. After feeling uneasy and experiencing cold and body ache, he volunteered to take COVID-19 test on November 22. 

His swab samples were sent for genomic sequencing as his CT value was less than 25. The Omicron variant was detected in his sample earlier this month.
