BR Ambedkar death anniversary: Delhi to organise free-for-all 'grand play' on his life

New Delhi:

In order to take the life of BR Ambedkar to every child, Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government is organising a grand play on his life.

“We are celebrating 75 years of independence. On this occasion, I am making a major announcement. To take the life of Babasaheb Ambedkar to every child, Delhi government is organising a grand play on his life. It will be shown at JLN Stadium from January 5,” Kejriwal announced on Monday.

“Well-known personalities are related to this play. 50 shows will be held. It will be free for the public. Its production meets international standards. Perhaps for the first time in India, a government is making such efforts to take the life of Babasaheb Ambedkar to every child,” he added.

Born on April 14, 1891, Babasaheb Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables (Dalits) and supported the rights of women and workers. He died on December 6, 1956. In 1990, Ambedkar was conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

Earlier today, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on his death anniversary.
