The Registrar Thera’s of the Malwathu and Asgiriya Maha Viharayas in a joint statement yesterday said that the people should act intelligently and patiently to safeguard peace, harmony, coexistence and dignity in the face of the heinous act of killing Sri Lankan factory manager Priyantha Kumara in Pakistan.
The Theras said as the Prime Minister of Pakistan has assured that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be brought to justice and that the long-standing friendship and trust between the two countries will never be compromised, the people here should act in a manner that safeguards peace, harmony and coexistence among communities.
The statement said the Sri Lankan Government should work with the Pakistan Government to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring justice and fairness to the wife and children of the late Priyantha Kumara and his family, and seek justice and fair compensation for the family and children.
“It is in the best interest of the Government of Sri Lanka as well as those responsible in each country to ensure the safety and welfare of Sri Lankans currently employed in various services not only in Pakistan but in every country in the world,” the statement added.
