ACT: Defending champions Pakistan could not book spot in finals, defeated by Korea 5-6

Dhaka:

Korea ended Pakistan’s race for the trophy as it marked a blistering 6-5 win in the 11-goal thriller semi-finals of the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy being held in Dhaka.

Korea is waiting to see who they will lock horns for the title win as India and Japan face each other in the second semi-finals of the tournament.

India has so far won three games out of four games, one being drawn with the now finalist Korea.

Umar Bhutto-led Pakistan gave a strong fight to Men in Red, but Jang Jonghyun, Man of the Match, hurt the Indian neighbours the most as he broke their defence four times, hitting the nets.

The frustration for the losing team came from Korean goalie Jaehyeon Kim as he defended the nets so well that Pakistan failed to take the lead in any quarter barring the first goal that the leader of Green, Umar Bhutta, hit in the 14th minute.

Korea equalised the score within 12 minutes as they did not let the opponents feel safe in the entire game.

Pakistan is now set to fight in the bronze medal match with the loser of the second semi-final.
