On the other hand, Jeollanamdo is a province in Korea with open fields, green mountains and numerous islands in the longest coastline of Korea.

At the opening ceremony, Korean Ambassador Santhush stated that “I hope these events will contribute to intensifying the love and appreciation you have for Korea. I believe that people-to-people exchanges are the epitome of our bilateral relations. There is a great enthusiasm among Koreans to travel to this beautiful island ranked as no.1 tourist attraction in lonely planet last year. I am looking forward to working with you in our upcoming events.”

Sunil Hettiarachchi, Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation Services and Ms. Dhammika Wijayasinghe, Director General of Sri Lanka Tourism commended the Korean Embassy for offering such a unique and wonderful experience to enjoy Korea virtually. They said, “It is truly inspiring and a nice opportunity to all Sri Lankans who wish to visit Korean places.”

The event was a great success and saw over 2000 visitors, who were able to enjoy a wide range of activities and gain perspective on Korea’s rich cultural heritage. There was K-pop music, a station to design Korean handcrafts, a “hanbok” photo booth to pose with traditional Korean attire on display.

The Embassy wishes to extend its thanks to all volunteers and participants of Korea week 2021 for their generous assistance in making the Virtual Tour to Korea a success and providing their talents and skills, and to all those visitors who came along to enjoy Korea’s beautiful places virtually. The Embassy looks forward to organising more virtual tours in the future.
