T20 WC: Australia hurt Pakistan, Babar returns with 39 runs

Dubai:

Pakistan loses its opening wicket of Babar Azam after a steady start making 71 after 9.6 overs.

Australia will try to make its choke harder in the coming over to restrict the opponents at a small total.

Mohammad Rizwan, another star opener for Pakistan, will now have more responsibilities on his bat to put his team in a comfortable position before the fielding.

Most runs in a T20 World Cup

317 T Dilshan (2009)

303 Babar Azam (2021) *

302 M Jayawardene (2010)

Adam Zampa did the task of breaking one of the strongest partnerships of the tournament with his spinner ball that was unavoidable for the Pakistani skipper as he went for the slog-sweep but ended up dragging it down Warner’s throat at long-on.

Pakistan skipper had said, “We’ll have to put runs on the board and then defend it. It’s an honour to lead this bunch of players, looking forward to playing some good cricket. UAE is our backyard, we know these conditions well. No changes for us as well”.

Pakistan has been undefeated in the tournament, and the team has not been able to create much pressure as they have been doing throughout the tournament.

Aussies, not in the best form, have shown the strength where required to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 2012.

The winners of this game will face New Zealand in the finals of the tournament.
