Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage today said that the approval will be granted for the private sector to import chemical fertilizer, weedicides, and pesticides from today onwards.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held today at the Government Information Department, the Minister said the Gazette Notification issued on April 26 has also been revoked.
Minister Aluthgamage further said that on April 26 this year, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa submitted a proposal seeking the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers to introduce green agriculture to Sri Lanka, and according to that, the importation of chemical fertilizer, weedicides, and pesticides was banned and the relevant Gazette notification was also issued.
