Karnataka rains: In viral video, bikers narrowly escapes being swept away while crossing flooded road

Karnataka, which has been witnessing heavy rainfalls over the last few days recently saw a biker narrowly escaping a tragic end due to the incessant showers and flooding.

The biker had narrow escape after he was swept away by strong currents while he was trying to ferry across a flooded street in Karnataka’s Tumakuru.

In a video, a number of people can be seen balancing themselves while crossing the current swept road. Among them, a man too can be seen trying to pull in the biker but he slips. Such was the force of the water that the man with his motorcycle floats around for a few meters but then safely emerges on the other side.

Locals in the video can be seen trying to drag another motorcycle across the heavy currents but the two-wheeler slips and is swept away.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate scattered/fairly widespread rainfall over Karnataka during next 5 days. The weather office has also sounded yellow alert for sevral districts of the state.

Due to incessant rains, several schools and colleges in Karnataka have declared holiday. Many areas in the states are waterlogged.

Also, a warning for fishermen to not venture out to the East central Arabian Sea has also been issued. Sea conditions are predicted to be rough in the coming days.
