ICTA Central Region Roadshow begins today

The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) will conduct a two-day roadshow titled ‘Regional Cluster Development Programme to Nurture Digital Technology Awareness and Adoption’ on November 5 and 6 in the country’s Central Region in collaboration with the Technology Ministry, Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRCSL), Telecommunications Partners, and Industry Partners.

The forum’s main objective is to create awareness about the country’s national digital transformation plan and engage with regional stakeholders to create a conducive environment in the Central region for establishing technology clusters.

The Central Regional Roadshow will focus on the Central, North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and it will be the third of the five regional roadshows planned by ICTA.

The roadshow will create new engagements, strengthen prevailing engagements and communicate the national digital roadmap. Representatives from Government agencies, Telecommunications and Technology industry officials, SMEs and the Start-up community, Central Province Chamber of Commerce and Education Industry Officials will take part the Central Region roadshow.

Relevant and timely topics such as the Vision for Digital Sri Lanka, the ICTA Strategy in Driving Digital Transformation, Digital Economy and the role of the Central Regional Cluster, and the way forward in Driving Digital Transformation will be discussed among the many other topics planned for discussion.

Secretary to the Ministry of Technology, Jayatha De Silva, ICTA Chairman Oshada Senanayake, ICTA CEO Eng. Mahinda B. Herath, ICTA Chief Digital Economy Officer Anura De Alwis, Dialog Axiata PLC Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Supun Weerasinghe, Mobitel CEO Chandika Vitharana, Airtel Sri Lanka CEO Ashish Chandra, Hutch CEO Thirukumar Nadarasa and Lanka Bell Managing Director Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe will participate at the forum.

Senior representatives from the Technology Industry representing SLASSCOM, FITIS, BCS, CSSL, SLINTEC and, SLIBTEC will share their plans on the Central region development at the forum. The District Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries and Chambers have extended their fullest cooperation.

The launch of the Central Province Start-up Hub and the signing of MOUs between five district chambers and ICTA are some of the key events planned for the Central Region Roadshow.
