Flood warnings issued to people around Attanagalu Oya

The water level of the Attanagalu Oya has been observed rising to ‘minor flood level’, stated the Irrigation Department.

According to the statement issued by the Irrigation Department, “water level of the river at upstream has risen to a considerable level. The water level at Dunamale River Gauging Station situated closed to Thihariya has risen upto 4.95 m at 10:30 AM today. Owing to this situation, there is a possibility of occurring a minor flood situation in lowline areas of Attanagalu oya River Basin in Attanagalla, Gampaha and J-Ela DS division areas within next few hours.”

Residents of the area and drivers of vehicles passing through the area are requested to be vigilant of the floods.

The Irrigation Department urges the Disaster Management Divisions to take necessary steps in this regard.
