Find if similar cases pending in SC, Kerala HC tells NEET aspirants appealing against rise in SEBC reservation

New Delhi:

Some MBBS graduates who appeared in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for post graduate (PG) medical courses, moved the Kerala high court against the state government decision of increasing reservation for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) from 9 percent to 27 percent in MBBS courses.

Justice N Nagaresh was hearing the matter who scheduled the further hearing for tomorrow so the matter can be resolved before the commencement of PG medical courses.

Appearing for petitioner, Senior advocate Sukumaran told high court that there are similar cases pending in the matter before the Supreme Court.

To which the judge asked petitioners to confirm if that is the case. However, if the court finds the pending cases similar to this one then, the high court would not be appropriate for passing judgement on this case.

The group of MBBS graduates had filed a petition against the decision of revising seat numbers reserved for various categories for PG medical courses in the state. The graduates believes this decision violates the constitutional norms.
