Whatever goes in our manifesto is a guarantee, not only promise: Rahul Gandhi

Velsao (Goa): Ahead of the Assembly elections in Goa, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday interacted with members of the fishermen community here and said that whatever his party writes in its election manifesto is a “guarantee” and not just a mere promise.

“We will not allow Goa to become a polluted place. We will not allow it to become a Coal hub. We are protecting the environment for everyone,” Rahul Gandhi told the fishermen here.

“We fought elections in Chhattisgarh and promised to waive the loan of farmers and we did it. You can go and confirm it in Punjab, Karnataka also. Whatever goes in our manifesto is a guarantee, not only a promise,” he added.

Slamming the central government over the rising fuel prices, Rahul said, “During the UPA regime, international fuel prices reached USD 140 per barrel. Today, fuel prices are much lower in international market, but still you pay more. Today, India taxing fuel highest in world. If you look carefully there are 4-5 businessmen who are benefitting from this.”

Fuel prices continued to surge to record high levels on Friday for the fourth straight day. In the national capital, petrol price increased to its highest-ever level of Rs 108.99 a litre while diesel price is  97.72 today.
