The officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Crimes Unit of the Wanduramba Police Station was arrested over allegations of extortion, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.
The Police Spokesman said the OIC was arrested by a team of officers from the Nagoda Police on Wednesday over the allegation of extorting nearly Rs. 1 million from an individual in Padukka.
The extortion had been in connection to a vehicle sale both of them had planned.
