Soldier injured in fresh encounter hours after Army JCO among five soldiers killed in Poonch.

Army soldier injured in an encounter which restarted again in Surankote Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir hours after five army soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer were killed in fierce gunfight earlier today, official sources told News24.

Official sources said that one JCO and four soldiers sustained bullet injuries in heavy exchange of fire during intelligence based anti militants operation at the forward village area of Surankote. As per sources it was newly infiltrated group of militants which had laid ambush and attacked upon army search party which later on turned into a fierce encounter between militants and army.

PRO Defence Jammu Lt. Col. Devender Anand told News24 that Based on intelligence inputs, today morning Indian Army has launched an anti militants operation in villages close to DKG (Dera Ki Gali) in Surankote Poonch Jammu and Kashmir.

PRO said the critically injured JCO and Jawans were evacuated to nearest medical facility but succumbed to their injuries.

Hours after the morning gunfight, encounter restarted again between militants and security forces few kilometers away from the earlier operation area, as per sources it is believed that three to four heavily armed militants are present in the area.

This is the third encounter since  early today in Jammu and Kashmir, earlier a militant was killed in Anantnag South Kashmir.

Another TRF (the resistance front) affiliated militant was killed in an anti militants operation at Gund Jahangeer village of Hajin in Bandipora North Kashmir. IGP Kashmir told News24 that the slain TRF militant Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar was involved in recent civilian killing in Bandipora. Muhammad Shafi Lone alias Sonu, a Sumo driver by profession, was among five civilians killed in the Kashmir valley last week.
