SLNS ‘Samudura’, HMS ‘Kent’ participate in naval exercise

Her Majesty’s Ship (HMS) ‘Kent’–a Type 23 Frigate serving in the Royal Navy arrived at the Port of Colombo on Saturday for replenishment.

The visiting frigate engaged in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Sri Lanka Navy off Colombo and left the island on Sunday.

The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in keeping with naval traditions. HMS ‘Kent’ is a 133 metre long frigate manned by 219 crew members.

Subsequent to her port call in Colombo, its Commanding Officer Commander Matthew Sykes met with Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy and Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Upul De Silva at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.

HMS ‘Kent’ conducted a successful Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) ‘Samudura’ off Colombo.
