Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: Preps on for grand ceremony at Statue of Unity

New Delhi: To mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, various events have been planned at the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, in Gujarat’s Kevadia which includes unity parade, performances from bands and platoons, bicycle rallies by central armed forces, motorcycle rallies from the police of four states, martial art performances, school band performances and various cultural programs. 

Six platoons will participate in the celebrations of National Unity Day (Rasthriya Ekta Diwas) at Kevadia. As representatives of police force of the various states, 54 flag bearer BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF and Gujarat Police platoon will participate in the celebrations. Moreover, 23 police officers who have received various medals in the international sports events after 2018 will also join the celebrations and 76 members will join the common band of BSF, CRPF and Gujarat police, read a statement. 

Jawans from central armed forces have departed on bicycle rallies from different states to participate in the ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’. From west, BSF and Raythanwala BOP will cover 723 Km distance from Bikaner to Kevadia. In North, Jawans from ITBP and central armed forces at Ladakh have departed on bicycles to cover distance of 2793 Kms upto Kevadia. From East, Jawans from SSB, Bhutan Border, Jayganv and West Bengal are coming on a bicycle rally to finish distance of 2347 Kms. From Central India, jawans from CRPF in Gadchiroli (Maharashtra) will cover a distance of 863 Kms to reach Kevadia. All these bicycle rallies will reach Kevadia around October 26 and participate in the unity parade. 

Motorcycle rallies from the four parts of the country will also join the celebrations at Kevadia. Police from Jammu Kashmir, Tamilnadu, Tripura and Gujarat have begun motorcycle rallies to Kevadia. 

After the National Unity Day parade, the performance on Wushu martial arts will be made and a special performance on ITBP combat vehicle operations will also be displayed. To take part in these grand celebrations, an inter-school competition between 36 teams of school bands was organized and the winning team will be a part of the Unity parade. Artists from Ganjam in Orissa will perform on the theme of the National Unity and various cultural programs will also add joy and colour to the celebrations, the statement added.
