GSMB targets to generate $ 200 million in revenue in year 2022

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GMSB) has launched a program aimed at generating $ 200 million in revenue by 2022, according to the GSMB top management. Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera at the GMSB’s progress review meeting said that the GSMB should explore country’s precious underground mineral resources in addition to issuing permits for gravel, sand, soil and gravel.

GSMB Chairman Anura Walpola and its Director General Sajjana de Silva said the institution can achieve the revenue target with the exploration of heavy mineral deposit in the Puttalam District.

Exploration of valuable land resources in our country has been expanded in relation to this project.

Accordingly, the exploration of the Seruwila Gold Depository and the expansion of high value mineral exploration such as copper and platinum associated with it, the introduction of value added products by the VAIN QUARTZ at Kotigambokka, Wellawaya as well as the introduction of calcite products in Kalthota Area will help GSMB achieve revenue targets.

The Minister also instructed to expedite the process.

The officials said that the project will be launched appropriate mineralogical utilization plans implement effective mining and scientific utilization of mineral resources, which will generate US $ 200 million in revenue for the government.
