GSMB launches online payment system for sand, gravel and soil transport license applications

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau GSMB has launched online payment system for sand, gravel and soil transport license applications.

GSMB has launched the online payment system for sand, gravel and soil transport permit applications from yesterday.

Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera, Chairman of the Bureau Anura Walpola and Director General Sajjana de Silva and other officials participated at the launch that took place on Thursday morning at GSMB.

These activities are to be implemented from today (01).
About 1000-2000 people visit the GSMB head office and regional offices daily to obtain sand, gravel, and soil transport licenses.

Minimizing this situation has given them the opportunity to do those things online.

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau have issued 777,000 licenses so far this year.

Speaking at the event, Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that more than one million licenses will have to be issued by the end of this year.

The Minister further stated that the objective of the government is to provide service facilities to the people of the country through new technologies without having to wait in line to obtain office services, especially in accordance with the government policy of the President.

He also said that some people were trying to sabotage the program and that they were expecting some benefits from the public.

Chairman Mr. Anura Walpola and Director General Mr. Sajjana de Silva also spoke.
