Former National Conference leaders Devender Rana, Surjit Singh Slathia join BJP

New Delhi: A day after resigning from the membership of National Conference, Devender Rana and Surjit Singh Slathia on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here.

Both the leaders joined BJP in presence of Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Jitendra Singh.

“Time has come that Jammu too should have a political narrative… It will be our endeavour under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others to create an inclusive narrative for Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir…We will not allow ‘Dixon’ plan and their supporters to succeed,” said Devendra Rana after joining BJP.

National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah had on Sunday accepted the resignations of Surjit Singh Slathia and Devender Singh Rana.

“Dr Farooq Abdullah has received and accepted the resignations of Salathia and Rana. No further action or comment is deemed necessary,” the party tweeted.

Slathia in 2014 had won the Vijaypur constituency while Rana had won the Nagrota constituency in the same year. Devender Singh is the younger brother of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh.
