Encounter in Shopian South Kashmir, 03 militants trapped.

Encounter broke out between militants and joint team of security forces at Tulran Village of Shopian in South Kashmir, after militants turned down repeated surrender offers from Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Official sources told News that a joint of team of police, Army’ and CRPF launched anti militants operation soon after receiving information about the presence of militants in this south Kashmir Village. 

Officials said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected residential house, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.

Joint team of forces after evacuating the civilians from the target house and near by area, repeatedly ask militants to laid down arms and surrender before the security forces. Jammu & Kashmir Police Dysp Ashraf Shaheen was seen in a video appealing trapped militants to lay down their arms and surrender. 

The operation has been going on from more than 3 hours now as the security forces were trying to convince the militants to surrender.

Officials said that the exchange of fire has started in the area and two to three militants are believed to be trapped. 

It is pertinent to mention here that it is the fourth encounter in Jammu and Kashmir in less than last 24 hours. 

Earlier two militants one each in Anantnag and Bandipora were killed on Monday, while as anti militants operation is going on in the Surankote Poonch.

Five army soldiers including a JCO lost life in Poonch sector of Jammu region early today when the newly infiltrated militants ambusb army search party, another soldier was also suatained injuries when firing restarted few kilometers away from the gunfight spot at Dera Ki Gali Poonch.

Army officials said a Counter Terrorist operation was launched by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the area of Shahdara, near the boundary of Poonch-Rajouri districts in J&K. During conduct of the operation, militants brought down heavy volume of fire on to Army troops leading to fatal injuries to one JCO and four soldiers. 

Army officials told News24, after the initial encounter, militants fled to nearby Bhangai village, which falls in Rajouri district, and the encounter is still in progress.
