Children above all else – State Minister Piyal Nishantha

Women and Child Development, Pre-Schools and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Education Services State Minister Piyal Nishantha issuing a message on the 2021 World Children’s. Day said that measures are taken for ensuring education equality and empowering children with knowledge and understanding as the children are of paramount importance to the nation.

The message:

“I extend my good wishes on behalf of the World Children’s Day national commemoration function being celebrated under the theme, “Children before everything” with great pleasure.

“A fact that all of us know is that the Sri Lankan generation are living in an uncertain environment within the COVID-19 pandemic. My Ministry together with affiliated institutions are implementing various programmes based on a new approach from the national plane to the rural level to prevent the situations that they are experiencing.

“Our only objective is not to restrict the World Children’s Day to a single day but dedicating all 365 days of the years on behalf of children. “During World Children’s Day, which falls today, October 1 and a number of programmes will be held throughout October in commemoration.

“Accordingly, based on the World Children’s Day, creating a new media space for children, promoting creative talents of children, donating of educational equipment to children of remote areas to ensure education equality are only some of the programmes to be implemented.

“All of these programmes are being carried out with the objective of long-term welfare and safety of children of our motherland. A responsibility that has been assigned to my Ministry is to guarantee rights of all children of our nation and to prepare an environment required for them to live safely. My only aspiration is to fulfill that responsibility properly and to empower children with knowledge and understanding.

“Children are everything. Therefore, in our lives, it is only children above all else.

“May you be blessed with long life.”
