WBC Asia Continental: Sagar Narwat to challenge Rahul Kumar for Super Welterweight belt

Noida:

In recent times, boxing as a professional sport has seen enormous growth in India. Since the Centre has eased Covid-19 pandemic induced restrictions last year in September, as many as 20 events have taken place across the country. Keeping up with the spirit, the WBC has also announced the establishment of the WBC India Committee and championship titles.

The first match under the championship title of WBC Asia Continental will be contested on September 3rd at the Crowne Plaza in Greater Noida. The event will also be premiered on The Punch Boxing’s YouTube channel. In the first match, Sagar Narwat will challenge Rahul Kumar for the vacant Super Welterweight belt.

Arif Khan, the promoter behind the upcoming bout, was delighted to secure a title fight on home soil: “I am very proud to host the WBC Asia Continental title at The Punch Boxing. Sagar versus Rahul will be a very close and exciting fight. Let’s see who wins!

“In the end, it’s the sport of boxing in India that wins. We wish many more amazing fights come to our country and to the Punch Boxing.”

“It’s my first title fight in India, but this is just the beginning – I  hope that I will be fighting for a world title very soon. Special thanks to Punch Boxing for all the support they have given me,” Sagar Narwat said.

In total, nine professional bouts will take place throughout the tournament in what is being billed as an exciting night of fight action at the luxurious Crown Plaza hotel in Greater Noida.
