Tata Punch: Know how tall, wide and tall this car is compared to Swift, details surfaced

Tata believes that the name ‘Punch’ makes it clear which group the company wants to target in the segment. It is being speculated that Tata Motors may launch this new offering before the festival season this year.

Auto analysts believe that Tata Motors has high expectations from the punch after the subcompact SUV Nexon and premium hatchback Altroz have performed well in the market.

There is also a possibility that with the help of a more affordable SUV, which is also being called micro-SUV, Tata Motors can woo young customers who want not only the premium hatchback but also the Hyundai Venue. , are planning to buy subcompact SUV cars like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.

Also, this car will challenge Hyundai’s upcoming SUV which can be named Casper.

Platform with Altorz

Tata’s upcoming SUV Punch will be based on Tata Motors’ new ALFA architecture. This is the same platform that has also been used to build the company’s popular premium hatchback Altorz.

HBX concept design

Tata Motors first showcased the punch as the HBX concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is being told that the production model of Punch is going to be very similar to its concept model. Other than that, the design elements are similar to that of the Tata SUV. The SUV gets split headlamps like Harrier and Safari. The front grille is also similar to other big SUVs.

However, compared to the HBX concept, the Tata Punch comes with a more toned-down look. It gets a more generalized front bumper with Y design motifs, shaded body cladding and off-road tyres. However, there are square wheel arches and an upright stance.

Upmarket cabin similar to HBX concept

It is expected that the cabin of Tata Punch will be equipped with many features. Also, it will come as a toned-down version of the cabin of the HBX concept. The dashboard layout is likely to be similar to the HBX concept. It will get square AC vents, floating island pattern 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system

Petrol model only

Tata Motors may offer the Punch only in a petrol engine option. The car is expected to get power from a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The same engine is also seen in the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. This engine is capable of producing 86 hp of power. Talking about transmission options, this car will also get a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT.
