Probe into COVID patient’s death leap

The Kandy Police has launched an investigation into the incident in which a COVID-19 patient had jumped from the fifth floor of the Kandy National Hospital. Police investigations have revealed that the suspect   had jumped out of a window of the building around 3.00 a.m. on Saturday. His body was found on the ground. The patient was receiving treatment at the COVID-19 treatment unit of the Kandy National Hospital. The deceased has been identified as a 37-year-old father of three, a resident of Alawathugoda. According to the Kandy National Hospital, he was admitted to Ward 35 on August 29. The wife of the deceased said her husband was also suffering from cancer.
