Olcott Mawatha-Port walking path to be reopened

The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing said that the walking path constructed from Olcott Mawatha in Pettah to the Port of Colombo will not be removed. The Director General of the Urban Development Authority, Chartered Urban Architect Prasad Ranaweera stated that some of the rumours circulating in this regard are incorrect.

He said, “The walking path was temporarily closed due to construction work being carried out by the Ports Authority on a land owned by them, which could cause harm to the public. Hence, once the construction work is completed the walking path would be reopened and all facilities will be provided for the benefit of the public.”

Therefore, he said that reports being circulated that the walking path has been closed are baseless and false.
