National Streaming Hub launched

The National Streaming Hub was launched at the Education Ministry today under the government’s plan to take school education closer to children through the television.

This broadcasting center transmits all the subject related programs prepared by the National Institute of Education to the TV channels and web channels in a timely manner covering the syllabus.

“According to the prosperity vision policy statement, this can be described as another successful initiative to take education to children by utilizing information technology”, said the Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

He further stressed that this is an opportunity not only for education but also for the entire public sector to take advantage of information technology.

The Minister also stated that in the face of the current epidemic situation in the country, the opening of this center will help to meet the educational needs of the children at present.

The quality of the program and the program arrangement are always monitored by the subject directors at this Centre. Technical errors are also facilitated here.

This will enable children who do not have internet access to study at home through television.

In the future, studio facilities will be provided to cover all the districts. Another two channels were added to the two existing TV channels today and the total number of channels will be 10 by next January.

Minister of Youth & Sports and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development Namal Rajapaksa, Foreign Minister G. L. Peiris, Education Reforms, Open Universities and Distance Learning Promotion State Minister Susil Premajayantha, State Minister Piyal Nishantha, State Minister Seetha Arambepola, State Minister Vijitha Berugoda and MP Yadamini Gunawardena were also present.
