Residents of Jaffna too had started ignoring travel restrictions imposed by the government, a senior police officer said, adding that until 01 September Jaffna had followed restrictions although those laws were openly flaunted in other parts of the country.
“However, since 01 September a number of shops in the town have reopened. A lot of people are now coming into the city to buy them. A number of people are coming into the town to visit patients in hospitals. So now, Jaffna too has a lot of people and vehicles on the road,” he said.
