Two fundamental rights (FR) petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court today (23) seeking an order nullifying the appointment of former Finance State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) by Samagi Jana Balawegaya General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara and MP Manusha Nanayakkara.
The petitioners seek a decision on the appointment of Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the Governor of the Central Bank and the recommendation to appoint him to the post violating the fundamental rights of the people of this country guaranteed by the provisions of the Constitution.
