Cash prizes for Tokyo Paralympic medalists

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved to award cash prizes to the two athletes and their two coaches for winning two medals at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

The proposal was tabled by the Minister of Sports and Youth Namal Rajapaksa.

.Dinesh Priyantha Herath who won a gold medal with a new world record in the men’s javelin throw event in F46 category at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and also Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku also won a bronze medal in the men’s javelin throw event in the F64 category have entitled significant victories for the motherland through that.

The National Sports Council, established in accordance with the provisions of the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973, has recommended the criteria for awarding cash prizes and the amount of the prize money that award for the recognized international sports achievements.
