The Consumer Affairs Authority (Amendment) Bill was presented to Parliament by Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday (6). The Bill provides for stricter enforcement of the law against traders and individuals who sell in excess of the maximum prices set by the Government for essential food items including rice, sugar and paddy. The Bill is to be debated on a later date.
