Magazine Prison officers have found remanded MP Rishard Bathiudeen using a mobile phone in his cell on September 1.
The Chief Jailor and another jailor had witnessed the incident where the MP had thrown out the said mobile phone through the window.
The phone has been taken into the officers’ custody and handed over to the Prison Intelligence Unit for further investigations.Prison Media Spokesman Commissioner Chandana Ekanayake said that this incident would be taken up before the Prison Tribunal for hearing. Bathiudeen was recently accused of threatening a medical officer at the prison’s medical centre.That incident is also to be heard before this tribunal.
