Vishwa Dananjaya fine athlete and cricketer

Sixteen year old , athlete, right hand lower order bat, right arm medium pace bowler, member of the under 15 schools cricket team to Malaysia Sembukutti Arachchige Vishwa Dananjaya has brought honour and fame to Kalutara Vidyalaya with his deeds on the cricket and athletic field He was born on 16th February 2005 and admitted to this school in 2011.

He commenced his sports career when he was in Grade Five and did 75 and 100 metres at the school Annual Athletic Meet and came first and in the divisional meet he came first in 100 metres and third in 75 metres. When he was under 11 he participated for the John Tarbet Meet held at Hanwella and 100 and 200 metres and could not come up to expectations but he continued to take part at the school sports meets annually up to Grade 10 and he was the under 15 School Champion by winning the 100, 200 and 800 metres events and in the following year he did discus throw and came second and his coach was Mrs. Ranjani.

In the mean time his parents Saman Deepthi Kumara of Sri Lanka Army Engineers and Pathma Jayassooriya noticing his keenness and talents for cricket handed over their son to the school under 13 coach Neil Rajapaksha in 2016 and in the same year playing in the Division Three he scored 140 runs and claimed 24 wickets with one five wicket haul and in the following year he scored 210 runs with a half century and captured 17 scalps with two five wicket hauls.

Then in the under 15 he scored 90 runs and claimed 12 wickets with one five wicket haul and he played for the District and Provincial Tournaments in the Prima Cup and also he was selected for the last 32 of the under 15 Malaysian Tour and his coach was Rumesh Milroy and Master in Charge was Walter Perera.

In the under 19 inter school knockout tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association he played in two matches and collected 8 wickets and he won the Kalutara District Best Bowler’s Prize and his coaches were Ajith Weerasinghe, Sunil Saluwadana and Buddhika Madushanka. In addition he is in Anuja Samaranayake’s Fingara Fast Bowling Academy and his Principal K. I. J. Peiris is very supportive at all times.
