Vaccines from PLA to be used to inoculate disabled servicemen, war widows et al

The Sinopharm vaccines donated by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China would be used to inoculate disabled soldiers, war widows, dependents and ex-servicemen, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Gen (ret.) Kamal Gunaratne said yesterday.

He said those vaccines would arrive in Sri Lanka on Saturday (28.) The donation was the result of a request made by the Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne to the Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe, during his official visit to Sri Lanka in April.

Defence Secretary Gunaratne will officially receive the consignment of vaccine from the Chinese Embassy Officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
