UNP to revamp for 75th anniversary

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to decentralise responsibilities to strengthen the party’s reorganization on the occasion of the Party’s 75th anniversary.

Accordingly, most of the powers under the party leader were transferred to the party Central Committee recently. Several committees have been set up to strengthen party organization under the UNP Reorganization Programme.

The Legal Committee is chaired by President’s Counsel Roland Perera and Attorney Nissanka Nanayakkara. The Environment Committee is headed by Dr. Ajantha Perera, an environmentalist and the Communications Committee is headed by Sudath Chandrasekara and Dinuk Colombage.

A Working Committee meeting was held at the Sirikotha headquarters last Thursday (12) to discuss the 75th anniversary of the United National Party which falls on September 6 and the action needed to build the party and achieve its goal of gaining power in the country. The Working Committee meeting approved the “Health and Economically Secured Country” set of policies on how to rebuild the country in the face of the Corona pandemic and the economic crisis.
