TNA calls for talks on HR issue

Jaffna District Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Member of Parliament M. A. Sumanthiran said on Tuesday that although the Geneva Human Rights Commission sessions are due to be held in September, the post of Commissioner will not change, it will be possible to gain a huge advantage in respect of proposals submitted in connection with Human Rights (HR).

Expressing his views to the media, the Parliamentarian said that if an opportunity arises, the Tamil National Alliance will hold talks regarding this with the Government prior to the Geneva Human Rights Commission sessions.
Parliamentarian Sumanthiran who said that the Tamil National Alliance will be submitting facts to the Government in connection with this, in the near future also mentioned that the United States should intervene and study this and become the third faction.

Speaking further he said that, the Tamil National Alliance should hold discussions with the Government prior to the next sessions in relation to the recommendations provided during previous sessions of the Geneva Human Rights Commission, for Sri Lanka to fulfill.
