Shanaka donates his prize money for a noble cause

In a humanitarian gesture, Sri Lanka’s white-ball Captain Dasun Shanaka has decided to donate his Man-of-the-Series prize money of the SLC Invitational T20 League to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila.

“It was brought to my notice that the national cricketers are planning to set up a special unit at the Kalubowila Hospital with a fixed ventilator for the benefit of the COVID-19 patients.”

“We can see the situation in the country is really critical and as national cricketers we have a responsibility to contribute in whatever possible way.”

“Therefore, I am quite pleased to donate my Man-of-the-Series prize money for this great cause and some of my teammates have also shown their interest in partaking in this noble cause.”

Shanaka struck an unbeaten 48 from 17 deliveries to help SLC Greys amass 201 for four and beat SLC Reds by 42 runs in the final played at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy on Tuesday. (C.D)
