Philanthropist funds new facility at Kalutara hospital

The Sri Lanka Air Force on Monday (23) handed over a Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Unit (HHOT) to District General Hospital in Kalutara. The unit was handedover by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Katukurunda, Air Commodore B.A.M.P. Balasuriya to the Director of District General Hospital, Kalutara, Dr. Pradeep Rathnasekara at a simple ceremony.

The Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Unit was manufactured by the Air Force General Engineering Wing at Katunayake together with its designing, which was done by the Electronics and Telecommunications Wing at Ratmalana.

According to Dr. Rathnasekara, this unit will be used at the District General Hospital Kalutara to treat patients with COVID-19.

Nadun Wijesekara who provided financial assistance for the unit, and some doctors and a officers and other rankers of the SLAF base at Katukurunda were present.
