Four wards at LRH reserved for COVID infected children

Four wards at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) in Borella have now been reserved for the treatment of COVID-19-infected children, Hospital sources said.

State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana recently participated in an inspection tour of the hospital and he said that one ward was previously reserved for Covid-19 treatment and four wards have now been reserved for children due to the increasing incidence of pediatric illness with the spread of the Delta variant.

Around 152 COVID infected children are currently receiving residential treatment at the hospital and COVID infected children between the ages of 2-14 with mild symptoms of the virus are treated at home under the supervision of medical experts.

A member of hospital staff pointed out that if the risk of accidents to children could be reduced, the time spent on it could be spent on children with Covid 19 infection.
