A foreigner was fined Rs. 5,000 for growing cannabis in a flower pot at a house in Milla, Hikkaduwa by Galle Chief Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela recently.
The foreigner, Timothy John Thomas, a 35 –year-old Englishman, was fined in this regard.
The suspect had rented a house in Milla, Hikkaduwa and was living with his wife. Following intelligence reports from the Boossa Army Camp,k Police had found three plants of cannabis about 3 ft. high in a flower pot in the house. Police found 1.075 kg of 10 dried plants called Kush in his house, Police told Court.
