Delhi schools to open in phased manner from September 1

New Delhi:

Schools will now open in Delhi in a phased manner from September 1. First classes 9 to 12 will start from September 1. After that, in the second phase, classes from VI to VIII will start from September 8.

The decision to open Delhi schools was taken on Friday in the meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority regarding the reopening of schools from class 1 to 12 in the capital. An important meeting of DDMA was called regarding this.

Schools in Delhi have been closed for a long time. A few days ago, students of class 10th, 11th and 12th were allowed to come to school for admission-related work, counselling, guidance and practical work related to board examinations.

On the demand for reopening of schools on the lines of other states, the Lieutenant Governor, in a meeting of the DDMA on August 6, had directed the officials to constitute an expert committee to prepare a detailed plan for the reopening of schools in Delhi.

Significantly, amidst the decreasing cases of Covid-19, the Expert Committee of the Delhi Government in its report had already recommended the phased reopening of all schools in Delhi. The committee, in its recommendations, had first asked the government to open schools from class 9 to class 12, on which it has been started. After this, middle schools and then finally primary schools have been asked to be opened. DDMA has taken a decision on this.
