Covid-19 patient gives slip to authorities twice

A 25-year-old COVID-19 patient who had escaped from the Chavakachcheri hospital was found by health and security officers while he was selling coconuts at the Chavakachcheri public fair. However, the man ran away again and the Police are trying to trace him.

A 73-year-old man fell dead inside a supermarket in Point Pedro, Jaffna. Police took him to the Point Pedro hospital. It is suspected that he was a COVID-19 case.

The shopping complex at Kodikamam, Jaffna too was closed down yesterday after 34 persons working there tested positive for COVID-19 on 17 August. Initially two workers there tested positive, following the detection health officers carried out random PCRs on those who work there.
