Bull Run continues, ASPI jumps across 8,650 milestone

Colombo bourse witnessed yet another bull run yesterday whilst the Dollar earning stocks such as EXPO and LOLC enticed local investor appetite leading the way.

Replacing Expolanka, LOLC Holdings was enthroned as the largest company based on market capitalization yesterday whilst its share price surpassed Rs. 500. The main indexes continued the upward trajectory where the All Share Price Index increased by 188.3 points (+2.2%) to close at 8,667.9 whilst the S&P SL20 Index also increased by 28.4 points (+0.9%) to close the day at 3,176.4.

Commercial Leasing, LOLC Finance, LOLC Holdings, Hayleys and Melstacorp remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day.

Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 9,958.4 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 3,470.1 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 421,435.9k against the 12-month average daily volume of 193,185.1k.

Transportation, Diversified Financials, Food and Beverage and Banking sectors mostly contributed to the day’s turnover.
